The Fault in Our Stars
Summary
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green follows Hazel Grace Lancaster, a 16-year old with cancer, and Augustus Waters, a cancer survivor. Together, they navigate deep emotional and existential questions, particularly about life, death, and legacy. The novel explores love, loss, and finding meaning even in the face of mortality.

Concept
The concept focuses on two paper butterflies as they go on a journey.
The world is made out of paper using different levels of depth to represent this huge journey the two characters go on
The animation will be created using stop motion.
Process
I drew the set pieces on a tan piece of paper and cut out each piece
I put the images into Photoshop to adjust the color, saturation, and to clean up the image.
The most challenging part in animating this project was the butterflies. For the butterflies I had to use a thin wire and wax to hold up the butter fly.
I had to carefully move the butterflies wings up and down without hitting the rest of the set. I also had to experiment with how far forward and back I put the butterflies to see witch was easier to move the butterflies.
Take Away
Using tape, sticks, and foam I created the layout for each of the style frames
For the motion test I set up the layout of the style frame just like in step 2 and used stop motion to create the movement. Then I edited the footage in after effects
